Plants are classified based on evolutionary trends, structure, function, life span and agricultural uses. Plants are cultivated in soil through the process of agriculture to provide food for the growing human population. Agricultural practices have great impacts on the ecosystem leading to some shifts. These have to be managed to ensure balance is maintained. At the end of this module, among other things, students will gain very good understanding of classification of plants, soil composition, profile and characteristics, effects of agricultural activities on ecosystems, food production, and population growth.
