Organic polymers are macromolecules composed of many repeating monomer units. Both synthetic and natural polymers play a crucial role in everyday life. Polysaccharides, polypeptides, and polynucleotides are the main types of biopolymers in living cells. Polymers have a wide range of applications. At the end of this module, among other things, students will gain very good understanding of sources, properties and uses of protein, amino acids and amines, carbohydrates, fats and oil, and synthetic polymers.
