Activities of the living entities in ecosystems make them functional. Biotic components of an ecosystem are majorly autotrophs (green plants) and heterotrophs (animals). These organisms exhibit interdependence on one another through feeding relationships. At the end of this course, among other things, students will gain very good understanding of the importance of excretory systems, relationship between excretion and water balance, excretory structures of some organisms, excretory organs in humans, formation of urine, and excretion in plants.
