Animals have various ways of obtaining and ingesting food. It is important that food eaten is digested. Digestive systems have organs responsible for getting food into and out of the body for the purposes of energy production, growth and development. At the end of this course, among other things, students will gain very good understanding of types of feeding, feeding mechanisms in selected organisms, feeding and digestion in mammals and other animals, and alimentary canal and digestion of food in humans and other animals.
