Activities of the living entities in ecosystems make them functional. Biotic components of an ecosystem are majorly autotrophs (green plants) and heterotrophs (animals). These organisms exhibit interdependence on one another through feeding relationships. At the end of this module, among other things, students will gain very good understanding of biotic components of an ecosystem, trophic levels, food chain and webs, ecological pyramids and energy flow and transformation in nature.
