Redox Reactions (CHM11)

Small Group Class (3-5) | N1,500 per class (max of 1hr) | Total # of Classes: 11

Redox is a type of chemical reaction in which the oxidation states of atoms are changed. Redox reactions are characterized by the actual or formal transfer of electrons between chemical species, most often with one species undergoing oxidation while another species undergoes reduction. At the end of this module, among other things, students will gain very good understanding of oxidation and reduction process, electrochemical cells and cell notation, electrolytic cells and principles of electrolysis, corrosion, oxidizing and reducing agents, standard electrode potential and electromotive force of cells, factors influencing discharge of species during electrolysis, electroplating, extraction and purification of metals, balancing redox equations, application of electrochemical cells, and Faraday’s laws of electrolysis.
