Homeostasis is the maintenance of a steady internal environment. It is controlled largely by the brain, especially the hypothalamus. Hormones, kidneys, liver and skin play important roles in homeostasis. Plant hormones bring about growth and development and responses to stimuli. At the end of this course, among other things, students will gain very good understanding of homeostasis, functions and diseases of kidneys and liver, structure and functions of skin, plant hormones and their applications, and endocrine glands and systems in humans.
