Transport systems are needed in plants and animals for adequate delivery of gases and nutrients, and the removal of waste products from body cells. Transport can be by diffusion, osmosis or through circulatory systems. The circulatory system consists of blood, the heart and blood vessels. At the end of this course, among other things, students will gain very good understanding of the rationale for transport systems and its evolution in organisms, types of circulatory systems in animals, transport system in mammals, functions of blood, and transport in plants.
