Welcome to our Yoruba language program for learners!

We’re excited to offer a unique opportunity for individuals living outside Nigeria to develop proficiency in Yoruba language, one of the top 50 most widely spoken languages in the world.

Besides being able to communicate in this language, learning Yoruba can also provide a deeper cultural understanding of its rich heritage, while giving learners a deep sense of cultural awareness and identity. By joining this program, learners will be able to connect with a rich cultural heritage, learn about the history and customs of the Yoruba people, and gain an appreciation for the diversity of human language and culture.

Course Overview

Where would you like to start?

Beginner A1

At the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Engage in conversations around basic things in the home.
  • Express themselves in relation to time and days of the week.
  • Understand how to greet at different times of the season.
  • Name each part of the body and talk about them.

Beginner A2

At the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Identify and name simple objects.
  • Make sentences and conversations with pronouns.
  • State different types of foods and how they are derived.
  • Express themselves using weather elements and basic means of transportation.

Intermediate A1

At the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Use appropriate words while addressing people.
  • Be able to hold conversations in public places.
  • State the names of animals and ask questions using the right words.
  • Explain simple moral stories and have engaging conversations.

Intermediate A2

At the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Identify adjectives and adverbs and how to use them in sentences.
  • State the opposite of words and know the times of the day.
  • Talk about fashion in relation to seasons.
  • Identify different trades in Yoruba, speak proverbs, and sing educative songs/poems.
